Marble Top Lyre Table
Quite some time ago, I met an elderly couple who had to leave their home and move in with their daughter. Because there would not be room for all of their furniture, I was lucky enough to purchase some of their beautiful pieces. One of those pieces was a French Provincial desk that I refurbished by painting and creating some of my stained artwork on the top (and sides).
If you missed that blog post, you can read more about this piece here.
I also purchased a Marble top Lyre table from this couple.
I had been trying to figure out what colors of my Wise Owl paints to use on this piece. The Italian marble on the top of this is gorgeous white with beautiful veining. I wanted to make sure I did this piece justice so it sat while I tried to get the right vision.
THEN, i finished that gorgeous Floral Panel,
and it dawned on me that those colors would complement this Lyre Table perfectly.
So, I decided to do a mix of Wise Owl Gray Linen and Smokey Quartz
After quite a bit of prep work - cleaning, sanding, cleaning again, priming, etc, I painted the base of the table. I then used my Wise Owl Metallic Bronze Glaze
I debated about adding another glaze on top of this, but decided against it. I added some highlighting of colors to the carved flowers and and some other areas.. I finished it off with a good quality sealer and this pretty little lady was ready to go!
Almost forgot.... The marble really needed little clean up, but I used our Wise Owl Lemon Verbena Furniture Salve
(a very little bit goes a LONG way!) This Furniture Salve is great stuff with MANY uses. It was specifically designed to restore wood, but we keep finding more and more uses for it! You can read more about it here.
And here is the beautiful finished piece!
This one sold quickly! I hope to find another someday, as I really love this style!
What's next at M&M Embellishments? Well, I have several pieces I'm working on right now. Stay tuned...
