The base of the table was painted in Wise Owl's Antique Red with a stain glaze.

 

The poppy design is all done by hand using oil-based stain.  I used some water-based stains for the pod.  The background of the poppy has a Wise Owl black base and then Oil-based stain over the paint.  All finished with a quality and durable sealer.
